Tuesday was my first day as an Ophthalmology Assistant with OSU Medical Center. While I never got bored without a job, it is still good to be employed. So far, I have been responsible for doing "Vision Field Testing," which means that I sit in a dark room and instruct patients to look straight forward and click a button when they see a flashing light. It isn't the most thrilling test (a lot of what I do is keep the patients from falling asleep), but they had to start training me somewhere. I will also help with administrative work once I get computer access.
I am posting a slide show with some of the projects/activities of the past few weeks. Neal and I bought a couch and loveseat off craigslist that was cheap because it had a broken armrest. As one of our first "home improvement" projects of marriage, we tore open the couch and formed a new brace. Neal did most of the work, but from my point of view, it was a fun project.
Next, we got our new Ohio license plates only to discover that the old Utah plates had rusted in place. We spent hours trying to remove the old plate, and had an equally difficult time putting on new plates. After I tried everything possible with a friendly old man at Ace Hardware, and then with the construction men who had been watching, we drove the car to Kittanning where Neal used his Dad's brains and equipment to finally put the plates on.
While in Pennsylvania during Labor Day, we went to Pittsburgh and toured the city. The weather, views, and company were absolutely perfect. It couldn't have been better. Be sure to notice the Steelers' stadium in the photos.
