I feel like I can't start blogging again without providing some sort of explanation as to why it has been so long since I last posted anything. Neal and I thought about saying that Internet connections are hard to find in Africa, but we haven't left the county. What it boils down to is that we don't have a good excuse. If I had to come up with one excuse, it would be that I think blogs are boring unless they have photos, and we never take photos. I'll give you an example...
I decided to start training for my first ever half marathon in January. (I really hate that the last two posts are going to be about running. We really don't run that much, but races are just one of the few times we take photos). I got a workout schedule and stuck to it like glue. I really pushed myself and set a goal to finish in 1:51.30. On May 1, I ran the half marathon. Neal came along to take photos and this is the result:
This would be an okay photo if it were a photo, but he accidentally took a video. Pay close attention. I run by in the very beginning of this video (taken at mile 6). Here are the other photos. They actually tell you a lot about my race:
1. It was a rainy day so Neal carried an umbrella.
2. There were so many people running (7,500) that it was hard to locate any one particular runner at the finish line (I am in the pink shirt on the right side of the road) until after she had passed.
Even though this post makes fun of Neal's photography skills, I am very glad that he came along to support me. It sprinkled for a good portion of the race, which doesn't make conditions ideal for photography or waiting almost 2 hours for me to finish.
My final time was 1:51.46. It is 16 seconds off my goal time, but I guess that just gives me room to improve for my next race (which, by the way is not scheduled yet due to a knee injury from working too hard).

oh no! knee injury?!? How long are you benched?
Good job on being only 16 seconds off your goal time! That is seriously so close and so awesome!!!
btw, you can download picasa 3 for free to your computer. You can use it to capture individual photo stills from a video. So that first video could become some photos if needed. You can also use it to crop out camera straps. :)
You already have comments and you just posted! See, people do follow your blog. I am so proud.
Way to go on your half marathon! That is awesome! And your time rock - I am very very impressed. Way to stick with your training schedule, I definitely struggle with that one!
A post Yippee!!! Kelli I hope you know how stinking proud of you I am!!! It was fun to run with you and I am so amazed with the runner you have become!16 seconds is nothing...You totally had it even with a hurt knee! You are now my running inspiration.
Having been discouraged by your lack of frequent posts, I am just discovering that you have finally posted something since last fall! Yay! I like reading what you have to say and seeing the pictures.
I thought Neal's comment was funny: "If you can't think of anything to say, don't say anything nice." I think I have heard something like that somewhere...only somehow it has been warped, lol.
Way to go Kelli, with your half marathon. Hope your knee gets better soon.
